While regular exercise has been proven to have a beneficial impact on the quality of sleep, this new research indicates that weight loss from dieting also can improve sleep. Published in the journal “Behavioral Sleep Medicine” in September, the study compared those who lost weight through exercise with those who slimmed down using dietary restrictions alone. The study found improvements to sleep that held up for both groups.

Essentially, people who lose weight and keep it off sleep better overall than those who are overweight as the latter are more likely to suffer from sleep apnea and painful pressure points.
