The length of time it takes you to recover from abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) will depend on what version of the procedure Dr. Kleto determines is best for you: a mini, complete, or extended tummy tuck. Additionally, your overall health and the rate at which your body heals will be factors, along with how well you follow Dr. Kleto’s post-surgical instructions. Generally speaking, however, most patients are able to return to work 2–3 weeks after their tummy truck.
You will need to avoid any kind of strenuous exercise – such as aerobics and weightlifting – until Dr. Kleto determines it is safe. It may take up to six weeks before you can return to your normal exercise routine. However, in the meantime, it is definitely important to engage in more mild forms of exercise. Gentle walks and other light activities can help reduce swelling and promote better overall healing.
Dr. Kleto and his experienced Knoxville abdominoplasty team will provide you with compression garments to help reduce swelling and discomfort during the first several weeks of your recovery period. Wearing these garments will also help improve the appearance of your final results. We will closely monitor your progress through follow-up appointments to ensure you are healing normally.
